Register of Municipalities located in the Coastal Zone

Description

Register of Brazilian municipalities with total or partial area located within the Coastal Zone, which comprises the 20-km-wide land strip perpendicularly measured from the Coastline, and the 6-mile-wide (11.1 km) strip of ocean with the same origin, aggregating information which already exists (geographical code and municipality name) with those produced in the identification and/or classification of the municipality inside the zone, such as: island, littoral, bay, estuary, lagoon and inland.

Objective

The main purpose is the identification of the political and administrative units of Brazil located within the area of influence of the coastal zone to which the National Plan of Coastal Management is applied. This plan is part of the National Environmental Policy and the National Policy for Sea Resources.

Main users

CIRM, IBAMA, State and municipal Organizations or Entities integrated into the National System of Environment, States and Municipalities.
