Índice de Preços ao Consumidor Amplo-15 - IPCA-15

January of 2012

IBGE has calculated the Consumer Price Index -15 IPCA-15 since May 2000. The period of collection of prices is, approximately, from the 15th of the previous month to the 15th of the reference month.

IPCA-15 is estimated according to the same method applied to IPCA, which has prices collected during the calendar month. It is exactly the collection period that makes the difference between both indices. Thus, the January reference collection of IPCA-15 began on December 14 and finished on January 13 of 2012. The prices in this period were compared with the prices in the period from November 15 to December 13 of 2011.

The target population for IPCA-15 is families with 01-to-40-minimum-wage income, whatever the source, and it encompasses the metropolitan regions of Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte, Recife, São Paulo, Belém, Fortaleza, Salvador and Curitiba, as well as Brasília and Goiânia.
