Monthly Survey of Industry - Physical Production - Household Appliances
Methodological Notes
With the objective of offering one more tool to help analyze the performance of Brazilian industry, IBGE now makes available the special index of physical production of Household Appliances. The overall objective of this special index is, considering a specific section of the product sample of the Monthly Survey of Industry – Physical Production (PIM-PF), to provide information about the movement of household appliances. In order to reach this objective, the index considers aggregated products from subsectors aligned with the production of household appliances, together with the item air-conditioners for domestic use: major appliances, or white goods, except microwave ovens; small appliances, or brown goods; and other household appliances, except white and brown ones. This series, which started in January 2002, will be updated monthly. The attached chart presents the description of the products which form this index, including their weighting figures.
