Product-input matrix: Brazil 2000-2005
The new series of the National Accounts System, released in 2007, has completely incorporated the results of agricultural surveys, such as the Census of Agriculture 1995-1996, of annual economic surveys in the fields of Industry, Construction, Trade and Services, and of population services, such as the Consumer Expenditure Survey 2002-2003, among other ones conducted by IBGE. Besides internal information, the survey includes annual data from other institutions, for example, the Declaration of Economic and Tax Information of Legal Entities provided by the Federal Revenue Secretariat. This new series has year 2000 as its initial reference and it is more detailed in terms of economic activities and products for the Tables of Resources and Uses, and of institutional sectors for the Integrated National Accounts.
As a sequence to the improvement of the National Accounts System, IBGE releases, in this publication, the Product-Input Matrix for years 2000 and 2005, the results of which provide a detailed view of the Brazilian productive structure and allow the evaluation of the level of interconnection of economy, as well as of the impacts of changes, in the final demand of products, in the respective periods of reference, given the identification of several production flows of goods.
Results, relative to 12 economic activities, are preceded by methodological information about the model on which IBGE has based its calculation of technical coefficient matrices for 2000 and 2005, as well as about the procedures used to adapt theoretical suggestions to the Brazilian reality. The CD-ROM that comes enclosed with the publication brings, besides information presented in the printed volume, tables with results for 55 economic activities and 110 products.
