Demography of Enterprises 2009
This publication analyzes demographic patterns of the formal segment of Brazilian enterprises, especially, their entry, exit and survival in the market. It also assesses the amount of high-growth enterprises. High-growth enterprises are those that register an average increase of salaried employed persons equal to or greater than 20% a year, for a period of three years, based on the Central Register of Enterprises - CEMPRE, of IBGE.
The study presented herein provides an overall view of demographic changes in enterprises, by size and type of economic activity, as well as of their mobility by size. The high-growth enterprises are presented by size and economic activity. Their importance in the generation of formal salaried jobs between 2006 and 2009 is especially considered. This is the first time the survey includes information on the sex and schooling level of the salaried persons in the sector. Regional results are also presented.
In addition to these indicators, the table plan included in this study presents results with the level of detail of the CNAE 2.0 and, in terms of local units, it includes information to the geographical level of the municipalities of capitals.
The publication brings considerations about the methodological procedures used in the elaboration of the study, mainly regarding the new selection criteria for companies active in CEMPRE, the use of CNAE 2.0 and the compatibility of a series of indicators with internationally-adopted methodological patterns. At the end of the publication there is a glossary with the terms and concepts considered relevant to the understanding of results. The CD-ROM that comes with the publication brings all the information in the printed volume.
The results of Demography of Enterprises provide valuable contribution to governmental organizations and civil society for the development and enhancement of other projects about the topic.
